WELCOME TO ALORA
Small Plates. Big Flavours. Shared Experiences.
Located in the heart of Mapperley, Nottingham, Alora is a restaurant built around one simple idea: bringing people together. Our menu is designed for sharing, inspired by flavours from across the world—tapas, small plates, and, more recently, sushi—all served in a relaxed, welcoming space where great food and good company go hand in hand.
At the centre of it all is our head chef, Henrik Horvath. With experience in Michelin-starred kitchens in Budapest, Paris, and the UK, Henrik brings an extraordinary level of skill and creativity to Alora’s kitchen. His approach is all about balance: precision without pretension, bold flavours without compromise. You’ll find Henrik in our open kitchen, where the energy of the team and the flow of service become part of the dining experience—don’t be surprised if he says hello while plating your dish.

Our food takes inspiration from all corners of the globe. While we’re rooted in the tradition of Spanish-style tapas, our plates are a reflection of wider culinary journeys—blending Asian, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and South American influences into something that feels fresh, vibrant, and uniquely ours. The recent addition of sushi, led by sushi chef Chris, adds another layer of craft and creativity to what we do.
We care deeply about where our ingredients come from. Sustainability matters to us, and we work closely with local suppliers to ensure our menus stay seasonal, thoughtful, and full of flavour. We also see Alora as a place to nurture talent—helping people in Nottingham and Mapperley explore new styles of food, both in the kitchen and at the table.
And then there’s the drinks. Ed Belshaw, our award-winning bartender, curates a list of beautifully made cocktails and standout wines—perfect pairings for your meal, or just something special to sip with friends.
Alora is casual, social, and full of flavour. Whether you’re stopping by for a few drinks and small plates or diving into a full shared feast, we’re here to make you feel at home—one plate (or cocktail) at a time.
